Quintette asks writers five quick questions. This week’s interview is with Charmaine Ross!
CHARMAINE ROSS
1. What’s the name of your latest story – and how hard was it to pick a title?
The name of the book is Four-Leaf Clover. It’s named after the heroine, Clover Loveday who ends up being the hero Liam Sinclair’s stroke of good luck. I originally called it Muffin Wars, but a lot of people thought it sounded too aggressive. I had a mental image of people piffing muffins at each other – greatest food fight ever!
2. If you could choose anyone from any time period, who would you cast as the leads in your latest story?
I love Bradley Cooper – so swish, sophisticated and super-sexy. He would make the best Liam Sinclair. Clover was modelled after female pop-star Carly Rae Jepsen with her large blue eyes and thick fringe that hangs just over her eyes.
3. What five words best describe your story?
Flirty, fun, sexy, contemplative, heart-warming
4. Who is your favourite fictional couple?
Han Solo and Princess Leia – can’t beat Harrison Ford in his youth.
5. What song always makes you cry?
Eric Clapton Tears in Heaven always get me right in the heart – even more so when I think about why he wrote the song.
About Charmaine
I live in Upwey, a very leafy suburb of outer Melbourne. I can hear most Melbournians say, ‘where?’ Think Puffing Billy, the hills and inexcusably steep driveways and you’re there. We have a house with room for the kids to play in the back yard, the cat to sleep wherever and the husband to have his back shed.
